Dear Kalanit
Q. Kalanit I am the manager at my place of employment. I’ve tried to lead my team to victory, (with all due respect), it is as if they are deaf and dumb. What can I do? I am a perfectionist and I know how to handle pressure. On the job I usually demonstrate emotional intelligence but I am about to scream and JUMP. When I get home I have no energy for cocktails with my man. Please advise.
Dear Balancing Act
What I have gleaned and my synopsis, (compliments of New York former mayor Giuliani), is that leadership can not be accomplished “single-handedly”. One will be forlorn and broken if tried. Instead the essence of leadership is not the leader it is the relationship. A collaborative endeavor amongst a group of individuals striving for the same utopia.
Meet with each team member tap into their talents. Review with them their job responsibilities. Ask them what are they yearning for within the company. Then educate them on how to reach their desired goal. Even if what they want is your job. Be secure in your position and know the fastest way up the ladder is to have someone climb with you. If they move up the ladder so will you. Demonstrate persuasiveness and not just authority. Lead with morals and ethics and remember people are not portfolios they are human beings and need to know they matter. If things are tight and there is no room for advancement then change their title, (restructure). I hope you understand what I am telling you to do. Sorry the concept of compartmentalization is an avenue that you can travel on your own. The subject is too vast for a few paragraphs.
Funny…perfectionist. Well I have used that terminology too until I grew up and realized that perfection is for the GOD’S. You’ll make a better impression if you practice deep breathing techniques, (inside your office), and release your anger and frustration. If you are a true leader when you come out of your office you’ll know what to do. My readers DON’T jump or scream and most important DON’T DO THE SUPERMAN!
When you get home igniting the flames over a libation can be very romantic. Yes I am one with Janet Jackson on some of her relationship advice. However this is reality. No movies or scripts. But, I am telling you to recognize what’s at home and the importance of coming home and finding him there. Don’t wait until he’s fed up and when you turn the key your house is empty. Whip that Na Na quiet the storms with the sweetest taboo. I am assuming you are mature enough to know that the sweetest taboo is not an offensive act. Nor is it suggesting a sexual act, per se. You’re just finding the right way to create the equilibrium that you both desire. Please no superman; you don’t have wings and there might not be anyone there to catch you.
A GROUP OF YOUNG LADIES, (AND GENTS), WITH SKILLS!
Q. Kalanit I heard that you are a Whoopi Goldberg fan. She used profanity on NATIONAL TV. Telling someone to kiss what she twist and not in those words. Congratulations on your acceptance to a doctoral program.
A. Oh Hun I don’t know how I received your post card but within the many hats I wear I am a diplomat too. Do I need to call the post master general? Just kidding. Your question deserves an answer since it made it to my front door. Moving forward I am seeking a part-time position for my own advice column or air time. Then you’ll have somewhere to send your correspondence.
With all fairness to Ms. Goldberg that episode was a long time ago. I don’t know the source of the tension but maybe she tried the professional ethical way and she was not heard. She must have felt as though the person disrespected her and therefore they no longer deserved her respect. Kalanit is no angel my dear. Don’t step on my toe or overstep my boundaries. Watch Whoopi Goldberg in the video below. Body language says a lot. This is her position to your question.
Jewish ethic tells me that when asked what did so and so do or say? I can respond that she said nothing critical, (not knowing the circumstances). Albeit, when there is no constructive purpose being served by elaborating on something that I don’t know peace is valued more highly than truth. REMEMBER probability theory ensues from assumptions and ASSUMPTION is the mother of all ????. You can fill in the blanks. I hope this helps. Oh by the way thank you very much for the congrats.
Q. Kalanit I think I’ve seen you before. I think I know your daughter. You don’t look like a woman who is anywhere near the age of 50. But my question is why don’t you admit that you are psychic. The grapevine says you know something that we all don’t know. I’ve read your entire website page by page. You are inimitable. You’re just doing your thing well. I’m judging the person, (although a gossip-monger), favorably. That is Jewish ethics right? What are you looking for?
A. Dear Mr. Curious
Well thank you for the compliment but I am not psychic I just know things about people. I’ll always be different, (that is just how God made me), so no I don’t worry about competition. I’m doing my thing my way. The Talmudic aphorism, “Judge the whole of a person favorably” does not mean give everyone the benefit of the doubt. When assessing your mate for example one should not rely exclusively on a bad thing but we should strive to be influenced by the good as well. That is if it is more significant. Obviously, I received your correspondent too. My daughter is over 30, and she is a Gwyneed Mercy graduate. I have many talents so I guess she inherited a few. Yes she is special. I love the small favors in life as well as the big. I’m looking for the mature adult man who know without having to ask. I’ve posted below a few videos per your request.
