Lashon Hara – Disparaging Speech
Judaism is meticulous about the power of speech and the harm that can be done by its’ misuse. The Talmud tells that the tongue is such a symptomatic tool that it must be hidden. There are two mitzvot in the Torah that explicitly address the harm done by improper speech. ONE – thou shall not go up and down as a tale-bearer amongst thy people, (Lev. 19:16). TWO – ye shall not wrong one another, (Lev. 25:17), which tradition suggest it stipulates wronging a person by misuse of speech). Tale bearing, rakhil, (רכ’ל), is basically any gossip. Unleashing the tongue that is hidden behind two protective walls the mouth and the teeth, has been associated with the unleashing of an arrow. One can not predict the speed of the arrow or the strength of the wind which directs its’ path. Once released the harm that can be done is detrimental. It can not be recalled and the harm can not be reversed or stopped. Therefore it is forbidden to imply unconventional accounts about a person. While the Torah unambiguously forbids Jews from placing stumbling blocks in other’s path, ethics mandates that we raise the stumbling blocks that one or nature has laid down. One may ask where is Kalanit, (Miss Theresa Bass), going with this….? Well, I’m getting there.
There is a book circulating that reference people of color or more specifically, “the so-called black Jews”, as being preposterous. Well, this has angered other Jews of color which in rebuttal they have been educating from the streets corners. Those that suggest that people of color was not the original Israelite’s are alluding themselves. Their main aim is to delineate and substantiate the history of the Israelite’s. In doing so they have also published numerous sites on the internet with their testimonial patent which states the original Israelite’s were people of color. Dark skinned Negroes, Japanese, Latinos, (Puerto Ricans/Ephraim, Native Americans, (Gad), Brazilians/Asher, Mexican/Issachar, The Chinese, The Arabians, The Aborigines, The East Indians, Samoan Natives and Iranians/Persians. They also suggest that the African’s are not Negroes or Hebrews. They are Ha-mites from the lineage of HAM. The author is very adamant in purporting that the “red men”, are not really Caucasians nor are they God‘s chosen people. It is a very controversial editorial that deserves intellectual commentary. Within their culmination of their proof they denote that just because someone’s skin tone is similar this representation does not insinuate they are of the same heritage and/or nationality. Are you Black or White?
Many may say that the bible verses of the original Israelite’s are peppered throughout numerous websites. This is old news. As noted within my published post “mis-education”, I educated my readers on the true color of a Jew. The same color as any other human being, “all shades of the color of God”. Edward James Olmos, (in 12 angry men), suggest facts may be colored by the personalities of the person who present them. My facts stipulate there are no white people or black people. The darkest Ethiopians or Africans are not the color black. White is the color of the background screen that I typed this commentary on. White is also the color of Xerox paper. I do not know any human beings that are black or white. Another fact is we, (as Jews), are cognate to God and each other. That is a blessing.
Well again I am Latina, French, African-American, Caucasian, (Jewish), and Indian and I am proud of each heritage. Is that below an acceptable quality of life? My dad has been called a red man and many others share the same commonality of that particular skin color. To engage in a battle of ingesting the core of an apple without peeling the skin and devouring what’s underneath, (to no avail), it is the same as if one tries to force feed a sick horse. This breed of commentary is not only despondent and frivolous it is incapable of producing a dignified reverberation. As we have recently celebrated the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. some of us has misplaced the eternal verity and significant merit of “we shall overcome”.
RACIAL TENSION – IN THE MEDIA
If we do psychological research on human behavior we will find that situations causes one to act or react in ways that are conceivably immoral, malicious and criminal. We all have the ability to hopscotch through the narrow delicate line of good and evil. We also have an innate official role to love or hate. It is permeable, but it is the situation that tips the scales. The disparity of how good people turn evil should be a posits so we can begin to transform what is going on worldwide. The racial tension hasn’t been this bad since the “Jim Crow Laws”, while systematizing De Jure and De Facto. The media is “off the chain”. As there is no fair game in love and politics the scattering of emotional and verbal abuse is daunting to say the least. The defamation tactic disengage, dis-empower, devalue, disrespect and devours souls and minds. It is frivolous and embarrassing.
When Barack Obama was elected president of the united states the literature within our periodical publications were graced with Michelle Obama the first lady that the world has been waiting for. Her accomplishments a mother, a wife, lawyer and a public servant. She served as an Associate Dean of student services at the University of Chicago as well as Vice President of Community and External Affairs. Prior to her tenure at the University of Chicago she served as an Assistant Commissioner of Planning and development in Chi Town city hall. Her attributes, quality, style, beauteous and mannerism was not embellished. She was truly admired, respected and an inspiration to many. She EARNED her stripes by diligently strolling through her path to success. During her tenure, (as the First Lady of the United States of America), she began many campaigns; “Let’s move” to combat childhood obesity, “Joining forces, supporting our veterans, “The Reach Higher Initiative”, encouraging higher education and leadership within our communities.
Today our First Lady have had to literally ask the public and media to give her a break from the verbal abuse the cynicism and insolence. She was belittled and demeaned because her festive soiree, (elaborate 50th birthday party), was gleaned with numerous celebrities as her guest. Being compared to our former First Lady, Laura Bush, who celebrated her birthday without “Glam”. I’m a fan of Laura Bush as she was always pleasantly poised. But it is evident that Michelle Obama czar’s of monarchy is no longer ratified as the media focused-schema has tried to characterize her as the “wicked witch of the west“, (in need of cognitive behavior therapy). It is also noted that the Obama’s have been disrespected more than any president and first lady in our history. However, urban dictionary characterized Laura Bush as a bowel movement and her husband, our former 43rd president, George W. Bush as a moronic retarded conservative stupid *sshole. He was caricatured as the president with the most asinine foreign policies and created animosity with other countries by engaging in an illegal oil war. He was portrayed as the mischief-maker that turned a once prosperous America into a dismayed horror-stricken liability. Which Barack Obama was courageous enough to embark on the challenge of improbably correcting same. Rudy Giuliani states our president no longer loves America. I am not trying to contrast but, regardless of the majority opinion, the words within the media are often taken at face value. ISIS has placed fear all around the world committing a political septicity. Is fear or democracy negotiable? How can our President arm us to protect America. Is it his, (the President of the U.S.), fault what ISIS has turned into? The group that has engaged in a systematic ethnic/religious cleansing have unfortunately gained normative power which shaped opinions of the American people. Which many has questioned why haven’t this mass killing galvanized our President critical thinking skills. Well despite popular opinion maybe it has. Barack Obama is handling the situation the way he feel is appropriate. He states one can not win a war by killing them. Jewish ethics ask, “Whose sin is forgiven?” If you want God to judge you with mercy, and not according to the letter of the law, he will first examine the standards that you practice in dealing with other people. Will ISIS still be a threat after our President term has ended? Who will lead? Is storming off and enlisting in a war that will be a conflagration of ISIS a fundamental vision that we share? Is it a geopolitical tactic? Is ISIS deserving of God’s mercy? Has our President erred? Or is he damned if he does and damned if he does not? Why isn’t ISIS charged with “war crimes”? Many were quick to judge Israel and many demanded that Israel be charged with “war crimes”, (when their aim was to protect Israel). As a reminder Jews are not the only individuals that reside in Israel.
Rudy Giuliani I admire for his dealings in the 911 crisis. I purchased his book Leadership and it is a “good read”. I voted for our former President Bush and if he would not have taken control immediately, as he did, I foreseen devastating consequences to the American people. Unfortunately, there are casualties in war. I admire Barack Obama for even being a candidate for President of the U.S., (after our 43rd President which many thought who could clean up after his dismay). So, my message to Michelle Obama is; “Grandma said be patient because there are better days ahead”.
As we as a country stand at a crossroad may we make our needs known to God, (adapted from Jerusalem Talmud: Brakhot 4:4 and CLAL’S blessings). Our President, and Congress decision could change the whole world. So I leave you with a thought, from CLAL’s daily blessings:

Within creation of my website I have been accused of protecting the Jews. I have been called the opposite of anything good. But I raise my head even higher as I have been a victim of a hate crime and I know the ignorance of people who dislike intensively for no apparent or valid reason. But for those that woke up to Laura Bush commentary on “Moochelle Obama”, (months ago), where do we go from here? What about the young lady that spoke adversely about her children. Have you read the Lucifer effect by Philip Zimbardo? Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can kill you.

My reputation is impeccable and I hope the First Lady and my readers reputation is too. Because we only need to impress ourselves and God the rest usually follow suit. Oh by the way, in knowing that the Israelite’s were people of color what relevance does this information serve in modernity. Muslims may have even been Israelite’s. All people have color even Caucasians’, as we were all created b’tzelem Elohim, (In God’s image).
