ETHICAL SOLUTIONS FOR ETHICAL DILEMMA’S
WHAT IS THE QUESTION?
I walked seven blocks today. Seven is the number of completion.
But, when I returned home tired and in pain, I cooked a kosher meal and then I slept. Upon awakening I heard of the tragic news of our kidnapped boys untimely and unwarranted death. Saddened, very much so, but I did not shed a tear. For me that is a good sign, because in this time of loss my heart spoke to me saying, “all is not lost”. I lit a candle, perform a ritual of kriah, and prayed. God forgive them that has hurt me. I asked God to stop the destruction of Israel and our Jewish people.
So, my question to myself is what do we do now?
We remember in our tradition what performing a kriah, (the tearing of a cloth), symbolizes.
THE TEARING OF A CLOTH WHAT A POWERFUL IMAGE
Cloth is made from numerous strands of flimsy threads that become strong when woven together. Such is human life. Each one of us alone is like a thin thread. Easily broken and able to support only a tiny portion of the weight of the world. Woven together, in family, friendship and community our strength is multiplied and enhanced, ( From Clal’s guide to blessings).
This message is for all but particularly a man in Israel that may feel that the weight of the world is on his shoulder. A man that may have been criticized in the media. As an educator I share my teaching with you:
Moses said to the Lord: “Please O Lord, I have never been a man of words…”and the Lord said….“Who gives speech? …. Is it not I? …..Now go, and I will be with you as you speak.” (Exodus 4:10-12).
Ha’makom y’nacheim etkhem b’tokh sh’ar aveilei tziyon vi’Yerushalayim.
Tinachamu min hashamayim.
As I will always respect, love and admire Martin Luther King Jr., his work and calling is not mine. Nor is his destiny.
So now that you have had the opportunity to ponder I ask that you formulate two questions and offer your perspectives.
But as I have presented a question I will also offer my opinion on what is the problem.
SOME INDIVIDUALS WOULD LIKE TO TAKE AWAY WHAT GOD HIMSELF REFUSE TO DO……FREE WILL. I WILL NEVER ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN TO ME!
GOD IS OUR JUDGE NOT OTHER PEOPLE
